DENR-CAR BESTOWS GAWAD KALIKASAN AWARD TO PHILEX MINING CORPORATION
Philex Mining Corporation, a well-known mining company in the Cordillera, received the Gawad Kalikasan Award during the Environment Month Culminating Activity on June 30, 2023, at the DENR-CAR Training Center.
The mining company, specifically its Mine Environment Protection and Enhancement Office (MEPEO) was recognized for their contributions to environmental awareness and actions. PMC being committed to managing and rehabilitating the characteristics of the physical environment beforehand has been conducting regreening programs, especially in areas affected by their operations.
PMC is one of the adopters of the Bamboo Propagation and Plantation Establishment Technology program of the Watershed and Water Resources Research and Development Extension Center (WWRRDEC). Aside from its progressive rehabilitation, this scheme supports the government’s initiative of promoting the propagation and use of bamboo in general.
